Catherine came to Hawaii three years ago from Santa Barbara, California where she dove off Catalina near her place in Avalon. Most of her dive experience before Hawaii took place in the Caribbean where she lived for eight years. Addicted to places of extreme physical beauty, photography naturally followed. After a dive vacation with an old friend and underwater producer, she found herself coveting his camera. Since that time, the unique flavor of Hawaii diving fuels her enthusiasm for hunting underwater images. She finds that the whales, monk seals, sharks, turtles and manta sightings beg to be captured and shared. Lava tubes, craters, wrecks and the abundant fauna and flora of this most geographically isolated place on earth provide Catherine a rich and endless array of subjects. Divers seeking adventure are some of her favorite subjects as well, because she wants her photographs to communicate the excitement of those unexpected appearances "out of the blue" and the magic found in the meditative moments in between.
