I find both the fauna and the people living this “life aquatica”
an endless source of fascination. I want my images to tell the story of humans interacting with the underwater world.
This is a tall order, but I love to try and capture the diver’s world, from his perspective. Things like; the gaggle of divers on the ascent line, the face of a proud dive guide showing off an octopus, the child at play with his daddy-the-boat-captain.
I find the profound beauty of fish, mantas, turtles and sharks set the stage for the way we see everything else! The day I was approached by a whale on the safety stop, I marveled at this great mammal but just as memorable was the ecstatic joy and disbelief on the faces of my fellow divers. So, here, in my collection of images I hope you can see beyond my lack of perfected technical skill, and journey through the world of our daily life as divers.
Some images were taken in various travel locales like Palau, Tortola, or Cozumel but most were taken here in my “back-yard” where some amazing people set out each day to not only share the underwater realm with our visitors, but to live a life enjoying the beauty of this most geographically isolated place on earth, Hawaii, our home.
